Account and Data Deletion — how to delete your account and data
Lo-Fi Labs Inc. built Cat's Library as a Free app. This SERVICE is provided by Lo-Fi Labs Inc. at no cost and is intended for use as is.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.
If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms of Service, unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.
For a better experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. The information that we request will be retained on your device and is not collected by us in any way.
The app does use third-party services that may collect information used to identify you.
Third-party services used by the app, and links to their privacy policies:
When you capture a sentence with your camera, text recognition runs on your device (Google ML Kit on Android, Apple Vision on iOS). The photo itself is not sent to us or to anyone else.
Nothing you record is shown to any other user until you accept the Library Rules in the app. Until you do, Library Features are unavailable to your account and this section does not describe it. What follows applies once you have accepted them. The rules themselves are a summary of Section 9 of our Terms of Service.
Each of the following is a separate setting, and every one of them starts private:
Separately from these, you can choose whether other users can see what you are reading at this moment.
When you accept the Library Rules, the items above start visible to everyone, except your quotes, which are shared with friends only to protect copyright. The consent screen tells you where to change this, and you can change any of it at any time, item by item, in the app's visibility settings — including making everything private again.
Wherever your content or your profile is visible to others, your nickname and @handle are shown with it — including in the list of readers on a book page. Choose a handle you are comfortable being seen publicly, and do not put anything in your handle, nickname, or bio that you want to keep private.
When you report content or a user, we receive the reported item, the account it belongs to, and the reason you selected, so that we can review it. The reported content is hidden from you immediately and permanently. We keep a record of the report and of the action we took, so that the decision stays valid and so that repeated violations can be recognised.
When you block a user, the block works both ways: that user's content is hidden from you, and yours is hidden from them. We store the fact that the block exists in order to enforce it. You can undo a block at any time from your blocked-users list.
We also apply filtering and review measures, which may be automated, manual, or both.
You can set every category back to private at any time in the app's visibility settings. From that point other users no longer see your content. Content another user has already seen, saved, or copied is outside our control.
Uninstalling the app does not change any of this — your account and its records stay on our servers. Deleting your account removes your Library content along with the rest of your records; see Account and Data Deletion below.
This section applies to Cat's Library (com.tld.takeabook), operated by Lo-Fi Labs Inc. You may delete your account and its associated data at any time. You do not need to have the app installed to make this request.
In the app: open the Account tab, then tap Delete Account. Your account is deleted immediately once you confirm.
If you are using the app without signing in (a guest account), there is no separate delete menu — signing out deletes your account and all of its data. The app warns you before you do.
By email: send a request to contact@catslibrary.com from the email address associated with your account, or tell us the sign-in method you used (Google, Apple, or Kakao) and the display name on your profile. We will verify the request and complete the deletion within 30 days, and will confirm by email when it is done. There is no charge for this.
When your account is deleted, we permanently erase:
This data is deleted from our live systems immediately. Encrypted backups are retained for up to 7 days for disaster recovery and are then overwritten on a rolling basis.
We keep a record of purchases you made through the Apple App Store or Google Play — the store order identifier, product, amount, currency, and date. These records are separated from your account and no longer identify you. We keep them because Korean law (전자상거래 등에서의 소비자보호에 관한 법률) requires records of payments and the supply of goods to be retained for 5 years, and because they are needed to handle refunds, chargebacks, and tax reporting.
Analytics and advertising events that were already collected cannot be tied back to you after deletion; where an identifier was attached to them, it is removed. We do not retain your reading content, your bookshelf, or your profile for any purpose after deletion.
If you reported another user's content, the report and the decision we made about it are kept, so that the decision stays valid and repeated violations can still be recognised. The link between that report and your account is removed, so the retained record no longer identifies who reported.
Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, and must be cancelled where you bought them:
Cancel your subscription before deleting your account, or you will continue to be charged. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies; we cannot issue store refunds directly, but contact us at contact@catslibrary.com and we will help where we can.
You can remove individual books, reading records, and collected sentences from within the app without deleting your account. If you want a specific category of data removed while keeping your account, email contact@catslibrary.com and tell us what you want removed.
We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device Internet Protocol ("IP") address, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.
Cookies are files with a small amount of data that are commonly used as anonymous unique identifiers. These are sent to your browser from the websites that you visit and are stored on your device's internal memory.
This Service does not use these "cookies" explicitly. However, the app may use third-party code and libraries that use "cookies" to collect information and improve their services. You have the option to either accept or refuse these cookies and know when a cookie is being sent to your device. If you choose to refuse our cookies, you may not be able to use some portions of this Service.
We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:
We want to inform users of this Service that these third parties have access to their Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose.
We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use commercially acceptable means of protecting it. But remember that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure and reliable, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
This Service may contain links to other sites. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that site. Note that these external sites are not operated by us. Therefore, we strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of these websites. These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
